Chiropractic in Huntington Woods, Michigan

When it comes to chiropractic care, physical therapy is an incredibly important component in treating musculoskeletal injuries. As a family chiropractic center, we custom design our programs to work for all age groups and ability levels.  We are proud to offer individualized chiropractic physical therapy programs for each of our patients.  These chiropractic physical therapy programs are convenient because they not only save our patients money and visits on their insurance but also allows them to perform the stretches and exercises when it best fits into their schedule and in the comfort of their own home.  Our custom designed PT programs are emailed to patients and include videos demonstrating the proper technique and set up of how to perform them.  All additional equipment will also be provided.

Spinal Orthotics in Huntington Woods, Michigan

Spinal orthotics are a great option for many patients suffering from lower back pain. We utilize these products at Dean Chiropractic in order to reduce pain while achieving long term corrections of many spinal abnormalities. Spinal orthotics are frequently used for neck and mid back pain as well, with their primary purpose being to change the curvature (aka lordosis) in the spine. This allows for a healthier distribution of load, such as the force of gravity, throughout the spine.  If left untreated abnormal curvatures in the spine, such as exaggerated curves or the loss of a curve, can lead to neck and low back pain, degenerative arthritis, and other disc injuries.

Activator Method in Huntington Woods, Michigan

The Activator Method, used by back and spine specialists at Dean Chiropractic, begins with the doctor having the patient perform test maneuvers (such as placing an arm across the lower back or turning your head to the side) and looking for subtle shifts in the muscles along the spine. This indicates where a spinal joint is stuck (subluxated). Once the doctor identifies the subluxated joint, he uses a hand-held rubber tipped instrument to apply a gentle force.  This returns the joint to its normal position and movement. No twisting, jerking or cracking of the spine is ever necessary.

Decompression in Huntington Woods, Michigan

At Dean Chiropractic, our back and spine specialists treat many patients with disease of spinal discs. Spinal discs are the soft spacers located between vertebrae in your spine that allow movement of the spinal joints. Over time, repetitive injuries or bad posture damage these discs. When this happens, the discs dry out and lose their flexibility. This disc failure can cause severe, often chronic, low back pain, neck pain, or sciatica (severe, disabling buttock and leg pain).  Pulling fluid back into the disc, rehydrating it, can stop and reverse this damage without the need for back surgery. To accomplish this, the back and spine specialists at Dean Chiropractic use a disc decompression procedure called Cox Flexion/distraction.
